Joshua, the King of Israel, won battles and conquered enemies by obedience to GOD’S WORD and by following the commands of God by both following the Law of GOD and by hearing the prompting of the LORD. In the Book of Joshua, Chapter 8, verses 1 – 4 , the Bible reads : “And the Lord said unto Joshua, Fear not, neither be thou dismayed: take all the people of war with thee, and arise, go up to Ai: see, I have given into thy hand the king of Ai, and his people, and his city, and his land: And thou shalt do to Ai and her king as thou didst unto Jericho and her king: only the spoil thereof, and the cattle thereof, shall ye take for a prey unto yourselves: lay thee an ambush for the city behind it. So Joshua arose, and all the people of war, to go up against Ai: and Joshua chose out thirty thousand mighty men of valour, and sent them away by night. And he commanded them, saying, Behold, ye shall lie in wait against the city, even behind the city: go not very far from the city, but be ye all ready:”Then in Chapter 8, Verses 30 and 34-35 reads: “Then Joshua built an altar unto the Lord God of Israel in mount Ebal, And afterward he read all the words of the law, the blessings and cursings, according to all that is written in the book of the law. There was not a word of all that Moses commanded, which Joshua read not before all the congregation of Israel, with the women, and the little ones, and the strangers that were conversant among them.”
It is no different today. We have battles continually, both spiritual and physical. How should we approach this? We should first obey the Law of GOD. However, to obey IT , you must first know the WORD of GOD. This IS your foundation. Learn how GOD directs us by HIS WORD. Then stand on it. Just as Joshua did. JESUS makes a clear example of GOD’S HEART and HIS WAY as it is written in the NEW TESTEMENT. The OLD TESTEMENT also shows GOD’S way and the LAW for ISRAEL, HIS Chosen people. Thank GOD that by the Love of the FATHER in and through JESUS CHRIST , that all who accept HIM are adopted into HIS FAMILY and are HIS PEOPLE . Glory To HIS NAME! Trust HIM! Ask HIM for help and guidance for your battles. Wisdom comes from GOD and HE will give it.HE IS Faithful .
After your victory comes, don’the forget to acknowledge GOD and give thanks to HIS NAME. Joshua built an alter to GOD and gave thanks. He then read the WORD of GOD to all the people after the victory and left not a word out.
This is an example of following GOD’S WORD, knowing GOD’S WORD , asking and hearing GOD, and giving acknowledgement to GOD for HIS Faithfulness…
For HE IS A GOOD, GOOD GOD and a GOOD, GOOD FATHER.
